Air pollution causes respiratory diseases

Air pollution causes respiratory diseases

As global air quality problems become increasingly serious, more and more people are paying attention to the role and performance of air purifiers. The U.S. government has also shown great concern about this and has formulated a series of technical requirements and regulations to ensure that air purifiers sold on the market can effectively reduce indoor pollutants and thereby protect public health.

At the federal level, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has clear requirements for air purifiers. These regulations are designed to ensure the effectiveness of the devices in removing specific pollutants. At the same time, the Department of Energy (DOE) has strict regulations on the energy efficiency of air purifiers under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975 (EPCA). For example, the Appendix FF test method that will take effect in April 2023 affects portable air purifier products exported to the US market.

At the state level, California, as one of the regions with the most stringent environmental standards in the United States, has additional regulations on air purifiers from its Air Commission. California’s Proposition 65 even adds controlled chemicals to the list, prohibiting or restricting the use of certain carcinogens. This not only improves the safety of air purifiers, but also drives the industry towards a more environmentally friendly direction.

However, to solve air quality problems on a global scale, it is not enough to rely on the efforts of one country alone. Other countries and regions should also learn from the experience of the United States and formulate and implement similar regulations and technical standards to ensure that the air purifiers produced are both effective and energy-saving. At the same time, governments of all countries should strengthen international cooperation to jointly respond to the global challenge of air pollution.

For domestic manufacturers in the United States, complying with these technical requirements and product requirements is not only a legal responsibility, but also a social responsibility. They need to continuously develop new technologies to improve the energy efficiency of products, reduce emissions of harmful substances, and provide consumers with safer and more efficient air purifiers.

Overall, both the United States and other countries should recognize the health risks posed by air pollution and take action to improve air quality. In this process, the air purifier is undoubtedly an important tool. Therefore, we look forward to seeing more countries and regions follow the US approach and introduce more stringent standards and regulations to promote the healthy development of the air purifier industry.
